Medical Lake Veterinary Hospital provides many surgical services, including routine elective procedures and advanced emergency surgeries. And, yes, we perform cranial cruciate repair surgeries! As in human medicine, some surgeries require special equipment or training, and we occasionally refer them to veterinary surgical specialists so our patients receive the best care possible. Every surgical procedure at the hospital has an estimate made and the treatment plan is reviewed with our clients.
A physical examination is performed by the doctor prior to surgery, and pre-anesthesia blood screening is recommended to check for any internal abnormalities that might change the way the patient metabolizes medications during the procedure. Appropriate pain medications and antibiotics are given before and after surgery to ensure our patients are not in any undue pain and heal quickly from their surgeries.
